if a post could get me you

Hi tryabiggersize! It's been a while and I just wanted to let you all know that I'm alive and kicking, and still want things I can not afford.
I am on urbanoutfitters.com because it's raining outside and I have nothing better to do than make myself feel worse by browsing at dresses I'll never own.

Ahh.. i die.

Just found this amazing site! I want!

The Golden Age of Couture

One word: AMAZING!!

I'm talking about the exhibition that I mentioned before, The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-1957. Sadly, photography was not allowed due to copyright issues, so I will do my best to find some of the stuff online!

Homage to Munkacsi
Richard Avedon
August 1957
(Coat: Pierre Cardin)

The poor quality of this image does not do the original version justice!

Dovima with Elephants for America Harper's Bazaar
Richard Avedon
1955
(Dress: Christian Dior)

Even with two large elephants, the model steals the spotlight!

Afternoon dress for Princess Margaret
Designed by Jean Desses
Around 1951

The pleating detail in the bust is exquisite. I want this dress!

Evening Dress (Robe du Soir Longue)
Designed by Jean Desses
Material: Chiffon
Around 1953

There are hints of Greek elements in this dress, which would be due to Jean Desses being Greek! This is a beautiful dress but I'd prefer it in a different color.

PĂ©rou evening dress (far right)
Designed by Christian Dior
1954-55 from the autumn/winter collection, Ligne H
Material: silk satin embroidered with gilt & silver metal thread

I couldn't find a proper image online, so this is the best I could get. This dress is quite breath-taking. It took 600 hours to complete the embroidery. Gotta give credit to Brossin de Mere, the person who did the work!

Anyways, this post doesn't really explain how great of an exhibition it was, due to my lack of photos. But the exhibition is moving on to Australia soon so if you're in Australia, you definitely need to check it out!

Modeling it up.

What would fashion be without models?

My favorites - (clockwise from top left) Anna Selezneva, Anja Rubik, Karlie Kloss, Coco Rocha

Badgley Mischka Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection
I must say I was rather disappointed when I saw this collection. There are a few pieces I like, but the best look of this season in my opinion is the second dress. However, it still doesn't beat their Fall 2008 Ready to Wear Collection, which has to be my favorite of all their collections! Here are some of my old faves:

That black dress...!!

AHHHmazing.

Not to forget this finale look!

So yeah, I liked the Fall 08 RTW collection a LOT more!

Max Azria is the bomb-diggity.

Which is your fave in this black & blue/green print dress? I would say the last one because the dress is body hugging but there's still lots of flowy fabric to cover parts of the legs.

And what about the bandage dresses? I would have to say the blue/purple one is the best. The color really pops out at you.

Whoa, I'm loving the black on the left side of the dress. The texture of this dress reminds me of silly string.

Purple/yellow looks a lot better!

Lovely dress. Curves are always emphasized in Max Azria's dresses!

This white dress is much simpler than the rest of the dresses, but it still gives off a well put together look.

ADAM Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection
Overall, not that impressive. This collection could have been made with someone's wardrobe. Nothing innovative, nothing mind blowing, just nicely put together.

Here are my two picks from the show. The first look seems mad comfortable! And the second look, I really like the print. That's about it. Hah.

Alexander Wang Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection
The collection is cool, but not really my style.

Anna S! <3

This is probably the girliest look of the collection and the silhouette looks great. Karlie Kloss really knows how to put the attitude in that outfit! How fierce. I'd get that outfit to work out in...if i was hot like Karlie!

SUCH A CUTIEEEE :D

Altuzarra Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection
Very urban/country/cowgirl-like.

Interesting weaving of materials together. Huge difference between the super girly & sexy Herve Leger dresses and these more casual cool dresses.

Is it just me or do her legs look super pink? I'm loving those shoes!

Nice and flowy. Sexy yet comfortable.
