It's Getting Colder!

Yes to 24 degree weather! It's finally gotten cold enough to take my Monki boots out for a spin. Loving the typhoon weather, especially when it turns to typhoon 8 and it's a day off!

Finally tried out this bun-maker thing I bought in Beijing. My layered hair still hasn't grown out enough to do this! Also wearing my safety pin earrings that I got aaaages ago. Haven't worn earrings in so long that my earlobes hurt!

Back in Shanghai!

I am finally finished with my spring semester of university. On my first day of summer break, I decided to "reward" myself with a trip to Central's Wang Fu dumpling restaurant on Wellington Street.

 I have passed the numerous dumpling places around the area many times before but it was never an appropriate time to go eat. So since my friends still had exams and my boyfriend was working, I made the trip alone to Wang Fu after reading about it on Back On The Boat. I ordered the Leek & Pork dumplings, Shredded Potatoes, and some good old Soya Milk.

It was a tad bit oily and salty, but it was also kinda crispy with a soury taste. I'm not complaining, since it was a lot better than all the crap I had been eating while studying for exams!

After living in Beijing for over 10 years, I think I've really become a bit Northern. I looooove dumplings, so I was pretty excited to eat these. They don't have too much choice on their menus like in China, but I decided to go with leek and pork since it's pretty standard. Man just looking at this photo makes me hungry!

They were quite juicy and full of flavor. I definitely recommend paying a visit here, and I would also go back there myself. The place is run by this old lady and she's quite cute. I felt bad when she took my order cause she would have to shuffle to the other site of the restaurant to give my order to the kitchen.

After dumplings, I headed over to H&M. Loving all the colors! I bought myself 4 tank tops. I almost bought this fuschia romper, but they only had size 38 and 40 left!

After shopping at H&M, I headed back to my dorm to rest (shopping is a tiring sport) and waited till my friend was done with her exam for dinner at Hang Hau. This was what I wore that day. Totally wrong choice of outfit for the super killer heat, despite the previous few days being much cooler! Shorts would have been a smarter choice.

Love the color and length of this, perfect for the summer by itself or paired with shorts.



The same tank as the above, but for some reason it's shorter and the shape is not as nice. But I still love the color. Can't get enough of basics and neutrals.


Still debating on whether or not I should return this. Any thoughts? A bit pricier at HK$149, but hey, it's organic cotton.

Another tank top. I don't really have much black in my wardrobe since it's not so much my color but I loved how soft it was and the back of it so I couldn't resist.

 

For dinner, we headed to Pokka Cafe. I ordered the Hamburger Baked Rice, and it cost a whopping HK$88. It was good and all, but totally not worth that much money. I don't think I'll be going back.

We then headed to Marks & Spencer. After spending so much that day (yeah HK$400 something is a lot to me...but hey, I'm on a student budget!), I didn't really want to buy more. But I was having a sweet tooth so I bought these gummies. They were SO DELICIOUS.

So now I'm back in Shanghai after randomly deciding to come back two days ago. Not as glad to be back as I had hoped but I'm enjoying the food! Posts on that later. And also some other stuff from before exams!

Another outfit from October, added the scarf and bag at night to go to TST and have dumplings! This was around when the weather was starting to get cold and I got a little excited and pulled out my scarf! :D But it's finally cold so I can wear it again.

Wore this in late October. I think it was around the period when the weather was super cold for awhile. Felt super formal that day and slightly like I was showing off too much since the slip shrank in the dryer, but at least I was wearing tights.

I've had no motivation to dress up mostly because it's exam time and I've been locked up in my room, and when I do go out, it's to grab dinner. But also because this weather is so unpredictable. One day it's 25+ degrees with the sun shining, and another it's in the low 20's and wind. And also cause I haven't done my laundry in at least a month. Yeah, I'm lazy like that. But good thing I overpack for college and brought all my clothes.

Anyways, it's 2:37 and I should be asleep. More studying tomorrow, I have a an exam on Friday for my Chinese Cultural Revolution course, and on Saturday for Human Resources Management. Fun.

So during the summer, my sister and I were digging through my mom's bag collection one night. I think we were talking about how many designer bags she had, and so we ran up to her closet. I seriously had no idea she had this bag! And there were tons of other awesome bags. We have a "rental" system right now. I get this, and my sister gets another. Love, love, love love LOVE this bag! The shape is great, the chain is great and the color. The only problem is that it needs a little polishing.

While I'm talking about bags and the summer, I was actually planning on doing a bag post for awhile now. This summer, I got 4 bags (including this Celine).


First bag, from my sister. A vintage Coach from New York. This bad is nice and convenient for when I'm just in a rush to go out and run errands or grab dinner.




My Mulberry Alexa fake from Beijing. I know fakes are baaaad but this was 80 RMB (almost the same as HKD, around 10 USD). 80 FREAKIN RMB! So cheap. I really liked the color. And it's somewhat different from the real one.




I love the amount of compartments that the inside has. A pocket in the back, a compartment with the zipper in the middle and small pockets on the inner front area.


The last bag I got was this Burberry purse from my mom and dad for my birthday. My mom was saying that I didn't really have a smaller purse for when I just want to carry my phone or money. But I was actually thinking the opposite. I don't have any big bags where I can throw everything in. I'm actually thinking this was better than a big bag (apart from the fact that I'd be too spoiled to be gifted a larger designer bag..) because my shoulder is usually dead after carrying my agnes b. bag around for a few hours, even when it doesn't have that much in it.


I love the detail on the strap buckle, with 'Burberry' engraved on it. To be honest, I actually didn't like this purse that much at first, just cause I'm not really a purse kind of person. I feel like it's so...middle school? But it's somewhat grown on me.

Anyways, off to bed, way too unproductive day today. Back to more studying tomorrow, exams coming up :( sigh... On the bright side, Christmas is coming up, which means Christmas shopping and Christmas presents :D And Australia & Shanghai!

This is so cute! I was just going through my receipts (yes I keep my receipts...hah) and I found this one from Monki a few weeks ago with its little characters. I love the colors and the illustrations.

I mentioned in my previous posts that I was going on a shopping trip, mostly for vintage shops, after I was finally free from my never-ending workload. And I've procrastinated on posting about it, but finally, since I'm posting about the receipt, I might as well post about the trip.

First, we stopped by H&M. I feel like I shop there at least twice a month..really does damage to my wallet. But I just can't help buying one or two things from there each time, whether it be accessories or basics.

Though Hong Kong isn't that cold to wear hats in the winter, I got this beret cause I lost my old one :(


Again, HK isn't cold enough for leather gloves, but I'm going back home for winter. Well Shanghai isn't really my home, seeing as I've lived in Beijing my whole life practically. But my parents just moved to Shanghai.


I've been having an obsession with rings recently. I think it was after I saw Lisa O's post on rings, which reminds me. I was looking through H&M's upcoming products that they'll be releasing and this one looked pretty cool.

Gonna be on the lookout for it :)

Had lunch after at Ajisen Ramen, a delish spicy fatty beef ramen.


Then we finally went to do the vintage shopping. Started out by going into the Hollywood Road/ Soho area. Along the way, we passed by a huge crowd. Being true cantos and seeing a line, we went and lined up, since we found out it was where Hong Kong's first milk tea originated.

So when we finally got to the front, we realized the line was for eating at the place. Some stupid guy had said that it was the take out line. So in the end, we just stood outside and ordered from a guy who looked too busy for his own good.

Next, finally onto vintage shopping. We first stopped by Vintage HK.

I thought this tooth necklace was super cool, but I wasn't willing to a few hundred HKD on it.


A bunch of vintage rings, again hefty price tag. But they were definitely pretty.


A Bottega Veneta for a few thousand HKD.


I was falling in love with that cute little bow ring and the aviators ring with the black stars. Looked quite cute, but I just felt like that might be something I could find in China. The prices ranged from 150ish to 200ish.


I also thought this skull necklace was kinda cute, and those bone earrings. I kinda never really wear jewelery, despite the fact that I still buy it.


I wanted that chain bracelet, but again, too expensive (around 200-300 HKD) for me to consider.


Super cool vintage watches and other accessories. Few thousand HKD for the watches. Maybe in a few years time!


Vintage sunglasses!

After Vintage HK, we headed to Armour Antique. There was a huge range of gorgeous jewelery, except most of it was above HK$1000, clearly unaffordable for a student like me.

Lastly, we headed to Select 18 to end our vintage trip. It was the furthest away and took a bit of time to walk there. I think one of the satisfying things about going to these little shops is the process of finding them and then finally finding it and discovering a bunch of hidden treasures.

It was definitely fun looking at all the jewelery on this shelf. There was this one tiny purse (can't see in this photo) that I was considering getting, but I thought I probably wouldn't use it too much since it was too fancy and I got 4 new bags this summer.


Bags, and bags, and bags, and more bags! I think they had a second hand Balenciaga at the store.


This shop is literally packed with stuff, not that I'm complaining. Though there weren't that many people after awhile, it was still hard to get around cause there was only enough space to fit one person on the sides. But I definitely think it's worth it.

I didn't take any other photos cause I was too busy digging through all the stuff. Another section was at the back, which included a bunch of menswear, as well as sunglasses. They were pretty awesome, but I'm guessing they cost quite a bit.


These are the pair of earrings I came home with, they cost me after 180 (there was a discount on most items), I think it was about 200 something before.

The owner, Thomas, also said that he had a bunch of Topshop stuff that he didn't take out, so I definitely have something to go back for! There's also a website, which includes an online shop.

Finally, went to Mongkok to meet up with Chloe and another friend for dinner. Since Dawn and I got there early, we decided to stop by Monki to check it out. I didn't take any photos cause it was super crowded in there, that I just wanted to look and get the hell out after.

I found two pieces I liked, one was a tank dress & a black slip that I ended up getting.


The tank dress (HK$150) was something like this. Well, not hard to understand what a tank dress is... I didn't end up getting it cause it seemed kinda baggy near the arm area.


The slip, HK$200. I've been meaning to get one of these, and since I was already spending so much that day anyway, I decided to get it.


Their character is super cute! Loving the design aspect to the brand/store concept, they really emphasize on the artsyness.

To end the post, more food! We ate at 西門町台灣麵食 Seam Eett Taiwan Noodles, super high rating on Open Rice (one of the greatest creations in HK).

鸡丝粉皮, in other words.....vermicelli with shredded chicken? well according to nciku.com, 粉皮means sheet jelly made form bean/sweet potato starch. Yeah, no idea. But I love the peanut sauce.


What Dawn, my other friend Katic and I all had. One of my must haves for Taiwanese food, 卤肉饭. Basically minced beef with rice. So much more than it sounds. The sauce is delicious.


What Chloe had, 牛腩面. Beef tendon. It had a lot of....tendon.

So much other stuff to post....too lazy and no time. 3 group projects for Marketing, Management and my Mandarin language classes. So many deadlines to meet. Hopefully I'll have some time to update soon.
